NOREE ANNUAL FESTIVAL: GAMU 2018!
NOREE CHAMBER SOLOISTS is excited to participate in NOREE PERFORMING ARTS' 5th anuual festival GA-MU 2018 this Thursday at 8PM at Ailey Citygroup Theatre (405 W 55th Street).
Noree Performing Arts presents its highly popular Annual Festival for the fifth season. Titled Ga-Mu, which means singing and dancing, the Festival brings together original music, dance, visual arts, and lighting design that culminate in an all-absorbing experience. Dokaebi-Bangmangi (Goblin’s Stick), a fairy-tale-inspired dance created by Noree and accompanied by Philip Glass’s piano music and Kento Watanabe’s Piano Trio, has become an audience favorite since its premiere in 2015. The new imaginative dance, The Birth of Humanity, choreographed by Noree Performing Arts and scored by composer-in-residence Alex Burtzos, is based on an ancient Korean myth and speaks to common human values such as diligence, patience, acceptance, and sense of community. Musical interlude by Noree Chamber Soloists features two admired works from widely different stylistic periods, Soul Garden by American composer Derek Bermel and Beethoven's Eyeglasses duet, encapsulating the spirit of diversity of Ga-Mu 2018.
